Support to Donor Relations personnel by providing accurate, informative and motivating speeches for United Way campaign rallies and other campaign events. Speakers will attend meetings, rallies, recognition events, and other campaign events as a representative of United Way. Speakers will receive message training and coaching on utilizing storytelling to outline the positive impact United Way has on the community. Speakers are a resource to external and internal consultants and play a significant role in securing funding for United Way sponsored programs.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate speaking schedule with Donor Relations team, responding to requests from company volunteers and staff. Track and maintain a list of current speaking engagements.
• Arrive 15 minutes before the speech is given and act as a United Way representative throughout the speaking engagement.
• Develop several speeches to be given during campaign rallies or meetings. Be able to tailor speech to match the topics and themes requested by the company/organization, and fit speech into the time allowed (usually 5-15 minutes).
• Participate in evaluation and feedback sessions with Speaker Consultant. Make improvements and changes to speeches as needed.
• Arrange, participate in, and implement conferences and committee meetings, as directed.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Highly organized with exceptional time management skills.
• Detail oriented.
• Articulate; experience in public speaking.
• Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook.
• Customer service oriented.
• Excellent communicator both verbally and written.
• Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks.

Additional Desirable Qualifications

• 4 year degree or equivalent work experience.
• Enthusiastic, professional and pleasant demeanor.
• Service-oriented work ethic.
• Experience with diverse cultures is a plus.
• Reliable transportation required to travel to accounts.
• Knowledge about community issues.
