Be a part of United Way's Street Team!

Summary

This position works directly with the marketing team. The focus of the street team is to promote United Way and inform audiences at local metro area events.

Each team member will attend local events and hand out promotional material to build brand awareness and educate the public about United Way, our Agenda for Lasting Change, opportunities to get involved, and upcoming events.

   
Location United Way Office, 404 South Eighth Street, downtown Minneapolis
   
Responsibilities

Attend a training at Greater Twin Cities United Way to learn the background of United Way and key talking points.

Attend local events to hand out promotions, advocate for, answer questions, and generate interest in United Way.

Event related duties may include:

  • Handing out promotional material
  • Wear United Way apparel to serve as visual promotions
  • Survey and sample audience
  • Interact with guests and educate them about United Way
  • Create impromptu games and strategies to engage guests to take action
   
Qualifications
  • Must be 16 years of age or older
  • Attend training on June 22 or 23
  • Must have outgoing personality and excellent verbal communication skills
  • Must have transportation to and from activities
  • Must be able to attend all or part of the events on September 9, 2009
  • Customer service or marketing experience a plus
   
Time Commitment

Volunteers will attend numerous events throughout the summer and early September.

Time commitment will vary depending upon the event but will usually range between 2-3 hours. Volunteers will be asked to put in a minimum of 15-20 hours a month.

Schedule will be flexible to the volunteer’s availability within reason. The majority of events take place on nights or weekends.
